About

Hi Everybody!

First off, welcome to Sweet Treats & Healthy Eats! It's a pleasure to have you here and browsing my blog. I hope that you find something in here that makes you say 'Oh yum', or even better, 'I'm going to make that.'

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm Michelle. When I'm not baking and working on this blog, I'm a Social Worker, with a passion for trauma and addictions. I also love to work with the homeless population, and those suffering from mental health issues. I recently graduated with my Masters of Social Work degree, and am currently working in a local community agency. Aside from that, I also have a part-time position as a Research Assistant with a professor at the University I went to, which is focusing on Integrated Home-Based Primary Care. And if that wasn't enough, I have a small baking business, where I primarily sell decorated sugar cookies locally, but also cakes and cupcakes.

I have always loved cooking and I enjoy trying out new recipes and combinations. However, it wasn't until November of 2011 that I really got into baking. I was actually inspired by a blogger that I now idolize- Annie from Annie's Eats. Shockingly, her blog was the first food blog I ever came across, and I became obsessed. The amazing quality of photos, unique recipes, delicious looking meals and desserts... I was completely inspired.

From then on, I couldn't be stopped! Fearless in the kitchen for the most part, I've tried countless new recipes. After several months, I toyed with the idea of starting a blog. By that time I was following several other blogs, and really enjoyed not only finding new recipes, but connecting to the individual blogging. It took another couple months before I committed to starting my own blog. I'm not sure if I've found my groove yet, as I'm still new to this all, but I'm looking forward to the future and I LOVE seeing when other people view my blog. It makes me hope that one day I can inspire somebody like Annie inspired me.
